What Krispy Kreme was to Cebu, the buwad danggit is to Tagalogs: obligatory pasalubong to family and friends back home.  However, at its source at the Tabo-an Public Market in Cebu City where it is cheap, the danggit does not look as pretty and smell as appetizing.  But these days, a trip there could be worth it for a traveller looking for bargains as well as variety.  Apparently, there is now an unsalted and sweet buwad danggit and squid.  Wasn’t the point of the buwad its saltiness?
