Danao Still “Paltik Haven”

Even after years of police operations and change of local administrations, Danao City’s capacity to turn out illegal firearms has apparently not diminished. The police arrested Saturday night in Barangay Taytay during an entrapment operation Generoso Gian Libot-Libot, 41. Recovered from him were ten .357 revolvers and nine .45 pistols with a street value of P125,000. The intelligence branch of the Provincial Police had Libot-Libot under surveillance for about a month before the Saturday night operation was done. An operative posed as a buyer of guns for a security agency. Libot-Libot denied having anything to do with the firearms by saying that when the police arrived, these “came out of nowhere.”
