Gotta Go My Own Way

Cebu Provincial Board (PB) Member Thadeo “Teddy” Ouano leaves Gov. Gwen Garcia’s office at the Capitol minutes after their brief meeting this afternoon where he informed her of his decision to leave One Cebu and join the Liberal Party (LP) and its cry for “daang matuwid.” He joins other officials of Cebu’s sixth district who have rolled over to the administration party after being elected under the banner of Lakas, the previous ruling party. Ouano says he is leaving One Cebu but will be supporting Garcia’s senatorial bid. Ouano’s political career got a second wind in 2010 under One Cebu where he was taken in as a candidate for one of two seats at the Provincial Board even after he was convicted of grave misconduct in relation to the purchase of lampposts for the 2008 ASEAN Summit. The Ombudsman says the lampposts were bought at a price ten times their actual cost.
