Accidental Firing

Police are investigating the death of PO1 Arnold Lao-ay, 30, originally of Surigao del Sur, who was found bloodied in his head inside his room in their house in Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City at 8:30 am today. Police said Arnold’s brother Arthur heard a gunshot from the rookie policeman’s room so he went inside to check. There he found Arthur lying unconscious and bleeding. They rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead a few minutes after arrival. The police believe Arnold may have accidentally shot himself with his own .45-caliber firearm, which was found nearby, but they are not discounting other possibilities in their investigation. The family does not believe it was a suicide. There is no suicide note and Arnold did not appear to have any serious problem.
