Triumphant Return

Johnriel Casimero, the IBF world junior flyweight champion, comes home with a smile this time. He successfully defended his title against Mexican challenger Pedro Guevara in Sinoloa, Mexico in a split decision win. The last time he came home, he had just snatched the title from an Argentinian whom he knocked out in the tenth round but Casimero. However, that homecoming last February was hardly joyous. Casimero, who is from Ormoc City but trains at the Omega Boxing Gym in Cebu City, was in tears. His younger brother had just died and he and his team had suffered injuries from the riot that erupted in Argentina when their compatriot not only lost his belt but was knocked out, too. See here a photo of his emotional homecoming then.
