Tribute Run For Ramie

Runners from about ten running clubs in Cebu and Bohol last night gathered at Cebu City’s IT Park after a tribute run for Cebuano triathlete Ramon “Ramie” Igaña Jr. Igaña who collapsed during the bike leg of the Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines Triathlon last Sunday. Medics brought him to the hospital but he was pronounced dead there. He was found to have suffered a pulmonary embolism. In the photo above, Dr. Humility Igaña, Ramie’s widow, thanks the crowd that gathered to honor her husband. Ramie and Humility were part of a three-member relay team at the Ironman race but Ramie never arrived at the station where Humility was supposed to take over the 21-kilometer run leg. Still, race organizers honored their team with a finisher’s medal last Wednesday.
