P3.5-Million Damage
Investigators estimate that the fire that hit Modern Metal Marketing at the corner of M.J. Cuenco Ave. and Urdaneta St., Barangay San Roque, Cebu City at 1 pm today destroyed property worth some P3.5 million. Initially, faulty electrical wiring was blamed for the blaze which took fire fighters almost an hour to control although it only affected one establishment. Putting out the fire inside the two-storey building proved to be a challenge as the windows were barred by grills while the mezzanine floor appeared to be constructed of light materials. A few minutes after this photo was taken, rain started to pour, aiding fire fighters in their operation. No one was reported injured.
